I ran the Oak Barrel Half Marathon two weeks ago and am just now getting around to writing about it due to the fact that I am….
Wait for it…
HOUSE HUNTING!
Can you tell I’m excited? Now, back to Oak Barrel.
This race is put on by the Mach Tenn running club and sponsored by none other than Tennessee’s finest, Jack Daniels. It is best know for its great swag and one brutal hill (aptly named Whiskey Hill) that has its own Facebook page. Before you ask, no, there is not whiskey at the finish line. Oddly enough, Lynchburg, TN is in a dry county!
The early April race date makes for a chilly start so we hung out in the car until closer to race time.
Then we headed out for some photo ops with the Half Fanatics
And some sparkle skirts ladies
This race makes sure they place a photographer on Whiskey Hill
And mile 12 is the best sign ever….ok, maybe mile 13 is but I didn’t get a shot of that one
And I finally got a good race photo!
My car didn’t fair as well
And every great race ends with food!
Next year will be the 7th half marathon and since Jack Daniels is known for the good old No.7, little birdies at packet pick up implied that we should expect seriously good swag, but the race fills up fast so don’t delay your registration!
